Here at the Hampshire Countryside Service it’s our job to look after the great outdoors, so it can look after you in return. It’s at the forefront of our minds every day. And we feel it’s our duty to let you know about the work we’re doing. We also want to share what we’ve learned about taking care of the natural world and how to make the most of it for you and your family’s wellbeing.
My name is Carly and I’m a countryside ranger. Me and my fellow rangers will be contributing to this blog. Our posts will cover all sorts of topics – our favourite walking routes, countryside safety tips, ways to use the country to stay fit and well, and lots more. The aim is to inspire and be realistic. Because, if you’re anything like us, you’ll want straightforward suggestions that fit in with everyday life!
Thinking about the ways we can make changes that benefit the planet couldn’t be more important right now. We’re all aware of the urgent action needed to reduce the impact of modern life. It’s why, this year, our team is making ‘Pollinator Pledges’ – to commit to doing something positive for the bees, butterflies and bugs that are in decline. Mine is to keep a wild area in my garden and leave some vegetables to flower each year. What would yours be? You can take part in the conversation on our Facebook page using #PollinatorPledge
