03 Dec 3 festive decorations to make at home
Now is the time to bring some festive cheer into your home. This usually means a trip up to the loft to bring out your family’s faithful decorations or investing in some sparkle for your home. But did you know, UK households create 30% more waste than usual during the festive period. Whether this be through packaging, uneaten food or decorations. Common decorations such as tinsel and baubles are often unable to be recycled so are sent straight to landfill.
Reusing old decorations is a good way of reducing your waste. Another great way is to create your own using natural and biodegradable materials.
We headed back to Staunton Country Park to see how we can make our own festive decorations that are great for hanging on a tree or around the house. Lottie showed us three different types of decoration to make using log discs.
To create the decorations you will need:
- Log disks
- A marker pen
- PVA glue
- Glitter (try find the biodegradable type that Lottie uses in the video)
- A palm drill
Watch the video below to see Lottie take us through a step by step guide on how to turn each log disk into a sparkly festive treat.
