Looking After You: Mindfulness with Jo #1

Looking After You: Mindfulness with Jo #1

Welcome to the first episode of our new podcast. We begin with a mini-series that’s all about using nature to help us ‘be present in the moment’. These are brought to you by Jo Heath, a qualified mindfulness teacher who also happens to be the head of our service!

We’ve written about the benefits of nature on mental well-being in the ‘stories’ section of our blog. But if you’re unsure what mindfulness is exactly, The Oxford Dictionary provides a good description: A mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.

Each bite-sized episode from this new series will be a calm and serene walk through a different aspect of mindfulness from meditation to body scans. We hope you find it enjoyable and relaxing.

Get to know Jo

I have worked in the environment sector for my whole career with half of that time at Hampshire County Council, where I now have my dream job as Head of Countryside. I have been practising mindfulness for the past 5 years and qualified as a mindfulness teacher last year.

I love getting out in the countryside, walking, taking photos and being in nature.
